Delegate Otto Wachsmann has proudly served in the Virginia House of Delegates since January 2022, representing the 83rd District, which includes Emporia, Brunswick, Greensville, Southampton, Sussex, and parts of Dinwiddie and Isle of Wight. A lifelong Virginian, Otto brings decades of experience as a pharmacist, assistant professor at the Bernard J Dunn School of Pharmacy at Shenandoah University, home office manager at the AH Robins Company, fireman and small business owner where he works every day to deliver results for families, farmers, small businesses, and rural communities.

2022 – Torchbearer’s Award

  • Awarded by the Virginia Community Healthcare Association (VCHA).

  • Recognized for carrying HB1162 (2022), which protected rural healthcare centers by ensuring fair prescription reimbursements.

  • This was the inaugural presentation of the award.

2023 – Health Care Champion Award

  • Awarded by the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association (VHHA).

  • Given to legislators who made outstanding contributions to strengthening healthcare delivery and protecting hospitals across Virginia.

2024 – Energy Rights Legislator of the Year

  • Recognized for leadership on energy access and rural broadband policy

2025 – CPESN Virginia Champion of Community Pharmacy Award

  • Advocated for solutions to prevent pharmacy deserts in rural Virginia.

  • Worked with state leaders to improve healthcare access and oversight.
